The Toyota Celica TA 22 was produced from 1970 to 1985 - which was a vehicle that now included sportiness in addition to Toyota’s renown reliability and affordability. ‘Celica’ was derived from the Spanish word ‘Celestial’ - meaning heavenly. At the time of its launch, a 1.6L inline-four, matched with a 5-Speed Manual and rear-wheel drive was unheard of and immediately won the hearts of car enthusiasts and participation in motorsport events. Its clever suspension with MacPherson struts and a four-link rear axle with a dry weight of 890kg and 1,200kg - the Celica was a thrilling car to drive, and to this day is a joy to drive with its rawness.
The P1tstop presents a fully restored 1973 Toyota Celica TA22, finished in an eye-catching Orange equipped with a 2T 1.6L carburettor engine and T50 5-Speed Manual Gearbox. Although approaching 50 years of age - this TA22 is mechanically sound and ready to drive, with only 72,600km mileage indicated - check out our Highlights below.
